Man,

Just saw some of the vids on Hutaree's (the angry Christian Militia) Youtube page and then went to some wackjob named IlluminatiTV's website.

I realize that the angriest, most unhappy people walking the planet today are religious.

But I can't fault the religions as I'm sure neither Jesus, Muhammed nor Moses would have anything to do with any of them.

So where do they get their wackiness from:

FEAR.

They are afraid. of what? EVERYTHING.

So they point at those of us just going about our lives, straight, gay, in-between, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, whatever...and they scream like Donald Sutherland in "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". Then they appoint themselves judge, jury and on occasion executioner.

As if God actually gave them that authority.

I suppose on some level I feel pity for them, all that hate, all that anger, all that fear burning inside, but mostly I realize that they are here as an example for the rest of us.

An example of what it is like to waste a life or when they act out, many lives.

These people have no idea what it means to have faith, to be human and especially what it means to be a child of God.

They are lost with no hope of finding the way out.

A long long time since my last blog. Had a small roll going for a little while but then became kinda sick and tired of the whole internet thing. Blogged then stopped. Was on Facebook, now off. But a couple of recent things had me scratching my head so I figured I'd write them down just so I wouldn't forget them.

1) Oral Roberts finally saw that 900 foot Jesus in the sky.

2) I realized that the 300 bucks or so that I sent the Obama campaign was wasted (at least so far)

3) That the real downfall of this society is going to be white "Christian" people who are going to become a far bigger threat ot the existence of the US in the coming years than any terrorists could ever hope to be.

As for Pastor Roberts, he is finally coming to terms with everything he did down here. I imagine him, like Jacob Marley, bound in chains and lock boxes, looking to haunt Joel Osteen and tell him that preaching prosperity is the road to ruin and damnation. Jesus, like Buddha, was a beggar. He depended on others and made due with what he had.

Mister President...shame on you. You really had a chance to turn things around Karma-wise for the good ol' U.S. Instead you let the bankers go into the Fed and walk away with more than they had in the first place. You're letting the Insurance Companies write the "Healthcare" legislation, and now we're gonna be in it knee deep in Afghanistan for a corrupt regime that wouldn't piss on this country if we were on fire. Unless Karzai could piss gas.

Tea Party? Glenn Beck?

Can you say Beer Hall Putsch? The only thing those guys are missing are the brown shirts and taking time out of their marches to beat the crap out of Jews.

These are the people that frighten me. The ones that think it is within their rights to bring assault weapons to rallies. Listen up folks...the book burnings are not far behind, the same for Krystal Nacht, The Fourth Reich and a new form of The Final Solution.

If you think I am going too far with the Nazi stuff, then you haven;t read your history and you haven't paid enough attention to these nut jobs. But you will. They will make you pay attention.

Happy Holidays,

It has been a while, over a month in fact since my last post. No excuses, just not mush to say.

Until yesterday.

33 people killed, including the one that did the killing.

We lost around 3000 people on 9/11 (to an act I see more as mass murder than terrorism, but I don't want to get hung up on semantics), since then we've lost another 3300 in the ensuing occupation of Iraq. Let's say, roughly 6500 Americans as a result of the 9/11 tragedy.

During the same time frame, in this country, we have lost approximately 150,000 people to gun violence (according to statistics at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the CDC).

I grew up in Louisiana, along the highways that wind through the state, every few miles or so you'll run across a slew of possums or armadillos that have been hit by cars. To this day I wonder as I pass them; how upon seeing one of their kind spread across the two lane blacktop, the subsequent critters don't get the idea that hanging about the highway is not the smartest thing to do.

The truth is, they are just too stupid to do anything different.

As a society, we are neither great, nor are we Christian, until we outlaw the weapons that are made expressly for killing people.

Peace,

I have graffiti on the front of my laptop (iBook G4, three years old, given to me by my sister). The graffiti consists largely of humanitarian statements by various people from Albert Einstein to Mother Theresa. There is a post card that states that a billion dollars spent on missiles generates 9000 jobs while a billion dollars spent on education generates 63000 jobs.

There used to be a bumper sticker with a quote from Edward Abbey that said “It is the duty of every patriot to protect his country from his government”, but I took it off a couple of months ago when I had to fly, figuring one of the crack TSA folks would read it, alert his boss and I would end up cooling my heals for the rest of my life uncharged and forgotten as an “enemy combatant” in GitMo (which, as I have mentioned, when history is able to judge without the veil of prejudice, will be regarding as one of the most egregious acts of human rights violations since the slave trade)

I still have two small stickers on my computer that tend to get nods of agreement from the people who read them:

“Jesus was a Pacifist”

And my personal favorite,

“Loving thy enemy implies not killing them.”

I don’t understand how so many so-called “pro-life” Christians can be so enamored with violence.

Let me say this, before the replies start flying before I get done. You want to be pro-life, fine. I’m pro-choice, being a man I won’t ever understand what it means to be pregnant, and I certainly won’t understand what it means to be pregnant and not want to be. Hence, I am pro-choice.

I think that taking a stance on something is admirable, on either side of the debate; as long as when you make a decision you avoid hypocrisy. I often confront members of PETA with the question of whether or not they are pro-choice. Most of the time they say they are, to which I then ask if that position doesn’t make them hypocrites. I personally believe it does. How can you support not killing animals and support terminating any other living being?

Which leads me to the “pro-life” Christians who do wacky things like eschew diplomacy and begin full-scale war that kills hundreds of thousands because 18 thugs committed mass homicide. What kind of Pro-Life stance is that? The last time a religious war such as the one we are engaged in occurred, the Crusaders lead the charge to purge the Middle East of the infidel Muslims and Jews. Pro-life indeed, the issue isn’t pro-life as much as it is George Bush’s interpretation of just whose life is worth saving.

Or there is the issue of another “Pro-life” Bush who has allowed the Florida legislature to broaden gun laws so that a registered gun owner can shoot someone if they “reasonably” feel threatened, thereby increasing the number of registered weapons in Florida from 25,000 to over 400,000 since the new laws were enacted. They should just go ahead and change the name of the state to Tombstone and let everybody shoot it out like the Sam Raimi movie “ The Quick and the Dead”. If that happens then perhaps the problem of too many guns would just take care of itself.

And of course there are the Pro-life folks who just can’t wait to execute a convicted felon…that’s the best form of Pro-life. With this “Christians” use the old “eye for an eye” biblical reference as justification. Whatever happened to turning the other cheek? Or Forgiveness?

Although, perhaps Florida is right, maybe we should just broaden the gun laws across the country, let every one own a gun who wants one, lets eliminate murder as a crime while we’re at it. That way, if someone pisses you off, or looks at you wrong or says something about your family, just shoot ‘em.

Jesus would love that.

Someone arrests you for speaking out against injustice, have your posse strike back and ‘bust a cap’ in all of them, that’ll get you right in heaven.

After all when Jesus was threatened, when Jesus was assaulted, when he was humiliated, tortured, sentenced to death and hung out to be picked apart by the vultures and the dogs with the power and full authority of God behind him, he…he…

Oh yeah…he forgave.

Good thing he wasn’t a Christian.

Peace,

REW
